After a very wet winter and equally soggy spring, most people will be very keen for the summer to be warm and dry, providing lots of opportunities to get outdoors and enjoy the sun.
Of course, that does require some good skincare, not least as you will need to protect your skin on hot days. This is especially true if you have a very pale complexion.
However, another instance where you have to be wary is if you have moles on your skin. While some can think of these as endearing ‘beauty spots’, others see them in a much less positive light. Either way, the summer sun can bring problems for exposed skin with moles.
In some cases, a lot of sun exposure can lead to melanoma, a form of skin cancer. This happens when cells called melanocytes are exposed to a lot of UV radiation. If your moles start changing in size, shape, colour or exhibit problems such as bleeding, you should get them checked out.
Skin cancer can be deadly if not stopped early, but if you do get it spotted promptly, the area can be excised. However, while that can make you cancer-free, it may also leave you with an unpleasant scar. That is why prevention is so much better than cure.
Melanomas that show up in changed moles are not the only form of skin cancer, of course, although it is the most dangerous. People don’t have to have lots of moles to be vulnerable to it, and sunburn or even regular sunbed use can be carcinogenic. Besides all that, with or without skin cancer as a result you should be careful to avoid the pain of sunburn.
Even so, though melanomas are relatively rare, they may add to the motivation for having treatment to remove moles from your skin.
CryoPen mole removal offers one way to do this. This is not the same as cryogenic freezing, as it does not involve freezing a whole area of skin to help remove one feature. Instead, it uses precision technology to direct the freezing treatment specifically at the mole itself (or other features to be removed, such as a skin tag).
By doing this, the treatment avoids causing any damage or discomfort to the surrounding tissue, delivering a quantity of nitrous oxide at a temperature of -127 degrees C directly where it is needed.
As well as moles and skin tags, a CryoPen can help remove warts, verrucas, angiomas and other unsightly skin features. So if moles are not the only thing that concerns you, this treatment can be used for them as well.
If you come to us for this treatment, you can be sure that it will be provided by skilled and trained practitioners, who will know exactly how to use this precise tool to deliver great results.
With the moles gone, you can stop worrying about melanoma, even though you still need to take care of your skin when the hot sun is on it. But you can still slip on a sleeveless dress or bikini top and display plenty of skin while sheltered under a hat or parasol, content in the knowledge that you won’t be showing off any unsightly moles.
